1 Chronicles 16, verse 1. So they brought in the ark of God and set it in the midst of the tent David had pitched for it. They offered up whole burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 2. And David finished offering the whole burnt offerings and peace offerings, and blessed the people in the name of the Lord. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 3. And he divided one loaf of baked bread to every man and woman of Israel. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 4. And he appointed Levites to minister before the presence of the ark of the Lord, to exclaim and give thanks and to praise the Lord God of Israel: 1 Chronicles 16, verse 5. Asaph the chief, and next to him Zechariah, then Jeiel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Mattithiah, Eliab, Benaiah, and Obed-Edom; Jeiel with stringed instruments and harps, but Asaph made music with cymbals; 1 Chronicles 16, verse 6. Benaiah and Jahaziel the priests, continually before the ark of the covenant of God with trumpets.
David's Song of Praise
1 Chronicles 16, verse 7. Then David by the hand of Asaph and his brethren gave orders to praise the Lord: 1 Chronicles 16, verse 8. Give praise to the Lord Himself! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 9. Sing songs to Him, sing praises to Him; Tell of all His wondrous works which the Lord has done. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 10. Praise His holy name; The heart that seeks to do His pleasure shall rejoice. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 11. Seek the Lord and be strong; On account of all things, seek His face. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 12. Remember His remarkable works which He has done, His wonders and the judgments of His mouth, 1 Chronicles 16, verse 13. O seed of Israel His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 14. He is the Lord our Lord; His judgments are over all the earth. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 15. Let us remember His covenant unto the ages, The word He commands for a thousand generations— 1 Chronicles 16, verse 16. The covenant He made with Abraham And His oath to Isaac; 1 Chronicles 16, verse 17. He confirmed it to Jacob for an ordinance, To Israel for an eternal covenant, 1 Chronicles 16, verse 18. Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan As the allotment of your inheritance.” 1 Chronicles 16, verse 19. When they were few in number, When they were small in stature and dwelt as sojourners in it, 1 Chronicles 16, verse 20. And when they went from nation to nation And from one kingdom to another people, 1 Chronicles 16, verse 21. He allowed no man to rule over them, And He reproved kings for their sakes, 1 Chronicles 16, verse 22. Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And bring no harm to My prophets.” 1 Chronicles 16, verse 23. Sing to the Lord, all the earth; Proclaim His salvation from day to day. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 24. For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 25. For all the gods of the Gentiles are idols, But our God made the heavens. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 26. Glory and praise are before Him; Strength and rejoicing are in His place. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 27. Give to the Lord, O families of the peoples, Give to the Lord glory and strength. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 28. Give to the Lord the glory due His name; Take gifts and offer them before His presence. Oh, worship the Lord in His holy courts! 1 Chronicles 16, verse 29. Let all the earth fear because of His presence; Let the earth be set upright And not be moved. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 30. Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.” 1 Chronicles 16, verse 31. Let the sea roar and all its fullness, And the trees of the forest and all that is in them. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 32. For the trees of the forest shall rejoice before the Lord, For He is coming to judge the earth. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 33. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, For His mercy endures forever. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 34. And say, “Save us, O God of our salvation; And deliver us from the Gentiles To praise Your holy name, And boast in Your praises.” 1 Chronicles 16, verse 35. Blessed be the Lord God of Israel From ages unto the ages. All the people said, “Amen.” And they praised the Lord.
The Worship of God Continues
1 Chronicles 16, verse 36. And they left Asaph and his brothers there, before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to minister continually from day to day according to the service of each day. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 37. And Obed-Edom and his brothers were sixty-eight; Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah were gatekeepers; 1 Chronicles 16, verse 38. Zadok the priest and the brethren of the priests stood before the tabernacle of the Lord in the high place in Gibeon, 1 Chronicles 16, verse 39. to offer whole burnt offerings to the Lord on the altar of whole burnt offering every morning and evening; and to do according to all things written in the Law of the Lord that He commanded the sons of Israel by the hand of Moses the servant of God. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 40. And with him were Heman and Jeduthun, and the rest chosen out by name to give thanks to the Lord, for His mercy is forever; 1 Chronicles 16, verse 41. and with them Heman and Jeduthun, to sound aloud with trumpets and cymbals and the musical instruments of God. Now the sons of Jeduthun were gatekeepers. 1 Chronicles 16, verse 42. Then all the people departed, every man to his house; and David returned to bless his house.
