The Wisdom of Solomon
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 1. 1A wise son makes his father glad,
But a son without discernment is a grief to his mother.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 2. 2Treasures do not benefit lawless men,
But righteousness delivers from death.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 3. 3The Lord will not let the soul of the righteous man starve,
But He overthrows the life of the ungodly.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 4. 4Poverty humbles a man,
But the hands of courageous men enrich others.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 5. 5A son who is instructed will be wise,
And he will use a man without discernment as a servant.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 6. 6A son with understanding is kept safe from the heat,
But a lawless son is blasted by the wind at harvest time.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 7. 7The blessing of the Lord is upon the head of a righteous man,
But untimely grief will cover the mouth of the ungodly.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 8. 8The remembrance of the righteous is with eulogies,
But the name of an ungodly man is extinguished.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 9. 9The wise man in heart will receive the commandments,
But the man unguarded in speech will be overthrown in his perverseness.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 10. 10He who walks in sincerity walks confidently,
But he who perverts his ways will be known.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 11. 11He who winks his eyes deceitfully gathers grief for men,
But he who reproves boldly is a peacemaker.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 12. 12A fountain of life is in the hand of a righteous man,
But the mouth of an ungodly man will hide destruction.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 13. 13Hatred stirs up strife,
But love covers all who are not lovers of strife.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 14. 14He who brings forth wisdom from his lips
Beats a heartless man with a rod.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 15. 15The wise will hide perception,
But the mouth of a rash man approaches destruction.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 16. 16The acquisition of riches is a fortified city,
But poverty is the destruction of the ungodly.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 17. 17The works of the righteous produce life,
But the fruits of the ungodly produce sins.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 18. 18Instruction guards righteous ways of life,
But instruction incapable of criticism goes astray.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 19. 19Righteous lips cover hatred,
But those who bring forth abuse are very lacking in discernment.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 20. 20You will not escape sin by a multitude of words,
But you of discreet lips will be forbearing.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 21. 21The tongue of a righteous man is silver tried in the fire,
But the heart of an ungodly man shall fail.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 22. 22The lips of righteous men understand lofty things,
But men without discernment die in want.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 23. 23The blessing of the Lord is upon the head of a righteous man;
It enriches him, and grief of heart will not be added to it.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 24. 24A man without discernment does evil things with laughter,
But wisdom gives birth to discernment in a man.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 25. 25The ungodly man is carried about in destruction,
But the desire of the righteous man is acceptable.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 26. 26The ungodly man is destroyed by the passing storm,
But the righteous man turns aside and shall be saved forever.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 27. 27As an unripe grape is harmful to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
So is a lawless woman to the men who use her.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 28. 28The fear of the Lord increases days,
But the years of the ungodly will be shortened.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 29. 29Gladness continues for the righteous,
But the hope of the ungodly perishes.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 30. 30The fear of the Lord is the stronghold of a holy man,
But destruction is for those who work evil.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 31. 31A righteous man will never fail,
But the ungodly shall not inhabit the earth.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 32. 32The mouth of a righteous man distills wisdom,
But the tongue of an unrighteous man utterly destroys.
Proverbs of Solomon 10, verse 33. 33The lips of righteous men distill grace,
But the mouth of the ungodly is perverse.
