Psalm 82, verse 1. 1An ode of a psalm for Asaph.
Psalm 82, verse 2. 2O God, who can be likened to You?
Be not silent nor appeased, O God,
Psalm 82, verse 3. 3For behold, Your enemies made a noise,
And those who hate You raised up their heads.
Psalm 82, verse 4. 4They devised a wicked judgment against Your people,
And they plotted against Your saints.
Psalm 82, verse 5. 5They said, “Come, and let us destroy them from among the people,
And let the name Israel be remembered no more.”
Psalm 82, verse 6. 6For they plotted together in unity;
They established a covenant against You:
Psalm 82, verse 7. 7The tents of the Edomites and the Ishmaelites,
Moab and the Hagarenes,
Psalm 82, verse 8. 8Gebal and Ammon and Amalek,
And foreigners with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Psalm 82, verse 9. 9And even Assyria joined with them;
They came to the aid of the sons of Lot.
(Pause)
Psalm 82, verse 10. 10Deal with them as with Midian and Sisera,
As with Jabin at the Brook Kishon;
Psalm 82, verse 11. 11They were destroyed at Endor;
They became like dung on the earth.
Psalm 82, verse 12. 12Make their rulers like Oreb and Zeeb,
And all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna,
Psalm 82, verse 13. 13Who said, “Let us inherit the holy place of God for ourselves.”
Psalm 82, verse 14. 14O my God, turn them like a wheel,
Like straw before the face of the wind,
Psalm 82, verse 15. 15Like fire that burns through a thicket,
Like a flame that sets mountains on fire;
Psalm 82, verse 16. 16Thus You shall pursue them with Your storm,
And You shall trouble them in your wrath.
Psalm 82, verse 17. 17Fill their faces with disgrace,
And they shall seek Your name, O Lord.
Psalm 82, verse 18. 18Let them be disgraced and troubled unto ages of ages,
And let them be shamed and destroyed;
Psalm 82, verse 19. 19And let them know Your name is the Lord,
That You alone are Most High over all the earth.
