Nayrouz (Coptic New Year / Feast of Martyrs)

Nayrouz marks the beginning of the Coptic New Year and is celebrated as the Feast of the Martyrs. It honors the countless Coptic saints and martyrs, particularly those who suffered under Emperor Diocletian, from whose reign the Coptic calendar (Anno Martyrum) is reckoned.
